It doesn't get much more unexpected than encountering a life-sized elephant and her babies as you walk down West Street in Rutland. Notice the realistic details of the folds and wrinkles on the skin of the elephants that were so carefully painted by local artist Kathryn Wiegers.
The mother elephant welcomed the addition of her two baby elephants in 2018. Did you know that baby elephants can weigh up to 200 pounds and be 3 feet tall? That's because elephants are the largest land mammal.
Don't forget to snag a pic while you're here. This is a favorite spot among locals for taking selfies.
Continue straight on West Street through the Merchants Row intersection to find the next mural on the side of Cavalieri Insurance Agency.
